Narsingdi Jailbreak: 45 looted guns seized, 1 militant held, 481 surrender
The Detective Branch of Narsingdi police has arrested Jewel Bhuiyan, 26, one of the nine militants who, along with 826 convicts, escaped from the Narsingdi District Jail by attacking, vandalizing, and setting fire to the prison.
The police have also recovered 45 weapons, handcuffs, and 1,091 rounds of ammunition looted during the jailbreak. So far, 481 prisoners have surrendered.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman provided this update during a press conference at the Narsingdi Superintendent of Police office on Friday, July 26.
On Thursday, July 25, Jewel Bhuiyan, a leader of the Hizb ut-Tahrir, was arrested in the Barua area of Kapasia in Gazipur.
Among the nine militants who escaped, two women were apprehended by the Counter Terrorism Unit of Police in Dhaka, one was captured by RAB in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, and another by Narsingdi Detective Police in Gazipur.
