Andaleeve on five-day remand
A Dhaka court on Thursday allowed the police to interrogate Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and former lawmaker Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho for five days in remand.
The additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Dhaka, Sultan Sohag Uddin, passed the order after the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police produced Partho before the court.
The DB has shown Andaleve Rahman Partho arrested in a case filed over inciting violence during the recent ‘anarchic’ situation over students’ demonstrations seeking reform of quota system in government jobs.
DB’s Gulshan Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Monirul Islam confirmed that Andaleeve was arrested on Thursday (July 25) afternoon on charge of arson attack to Setu Bhaban in Banani.
Earlier on Wednesday night, his family complained that plainclothesmen picked up Partho from Baridhara in the capital.
Recently, Andaleeve posted various posts on the social media in support of the students who are agitating for the quota reform.
Partho was once one of the leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance. He later left the alliance.
