Quota protester Abu Sayed laid to rest
Abu Sayed, a prominent coordinator of the ongoing quota reform movement at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, who was killed in police firing on Tuesday, was laid to rest on Wednesday morning.
He was buried at his family graveyard following a namaz-e-janaza at Jafarpara Madrasa playground at Babanpur village under Madankhali union in Priganj upazila of Rangpur at 9am. His relative Md Siam Miah conducted the namaz-e-janaza. His body reached his village at 2am on Tuesday.
Sayed was the brightest among his nine siblings. He was the only one among his siblings receiving higher education. His family had high hopes for him, expecting him to support them after completing his education and securing a job.
Local people said, Sayed obtained a GPA of 5 in both SSC and HSC examinations. He then enrolled in the English department at Begum Rokeya University, where he was known as a highly meritorious student in the 12th batch.
Earlier on Tuesday noon, Sayeed was killed in a clash between police and the students demanding quota reforms in government jobs in Rangpur.
