Passenger held with 3.9kg cocaine at Ctg airport
About 4 kg of cocaine was found in the luggage of a Bahamian woman passenger at Shah Amanat Airport in Chattogram.
The passenger, named Stalia Shantei, departed from Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 12, transited through Dubai, and landed at Chittagong Shah Amanat Airport on July 13 via FlyDubai.
Upon arrival, she left for her hotel without any luggage. She returned to the airport to collect her baggage at 10:30 am on Monday. During a search, a package of cocaine weighing 3.9 kg was found inside a UPS. She was detained by APBN, airport security, and intelligence officials.
Director of Shah Amanat Airport, Taslim Ahmed, said, "We believe that the Bahamian woman is a member of an international drug trafficking ring."
He explained that she went to the hotel without any luggage on the first day but was under surveillance by airport security, APBN, and intelligence. A careful scan of her luggage at baggage claim today revealed a 3.9 kg cocaine packet cleverly hidden inside the UPS.
Taslim Ahmed added that he did not have an estimate of the value of the seized cocaine and said, "We have been monitoring several such passengers for many days. The detained woman may be a member of a drug trafficking ring. We are working to identify the masterminds behind this operation and bring them to justice."
