Quota protesters announce new programmes

Students protesting for the reforms to the quota system for government jobs will march in Dhaka on Sunday and submit memorandums to the President.

The march will start at 11 am from in front of Dhaka University (DU) Central Library with the participation of students from Dhaka University, its affiliated seven colleges, Jagannath University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, and other educational institutions in the capital.

Besides, students of all educational institutions across the country will march and submit memorandums to the President through their respective districts' deputy commissioners (DCs).

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the "Anti-Discrimination Student Movement", announced the new programmes in their movement in a press briefing on the DU campus on Saturday evening.

He said, "Our class, exam boycott, and student strike are on. Besides this, we will march and submit memorandums to the President on Sunday for a rational reformation to the quotas in all grades of government jobs."

Students have been protesting in the capital and different parts of the country for several days demanding reforms to the quota system for public sector jobs.

To press home their demands, they staged demonstrations, brought out processions, and blocked roads and railway tracks in and outside Dhaka.
