Bangla Academy award-winning poet Makid Haider has passed away.

He breathed his last at his residence in the capital’s Uttara at 9:05am on Wednesday.

He had been suffering from old-age complications for a long time. 

His son Asif Haider confirmed his father’s death to Jago News. 

Asif Haider said the body of his father will be taken to Bangla Academy premises for last respect between 2pm to 2:30pm. From there, his body will be brought to his village home in Pabna where he will be buried.   

Makid Haider was born at Doharpara in Pabna on September 28, 1947. 

Some of his notable poetry books are ‘Rode Vije Bari Fera’, ‘Apan Adhare Ekdin’, ‘Partha o Pratim’, ‘Kofiner Lokti’, ‘Je Amake Dukkho Dilo’, ‘Priyo Rokanali’, and ‘Mumur Sathe Sara Dupur’.
