The students from different colleges and universities have blocked Science Lab and Shahbagh in the capital protesting the reinstatement of the quota system in government jobs.

As a part of their pre-announced ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme, the students of Dhaka College and Eden Mahila College blocked Science Lab intersection at 3:50pm on Monday.

Later, a group of students blocked Shahbagh intersection at 4:30pm. The traffic movement was suspended at Shahbagh and its adjacent areas due to the student movement.

Earlier at 3:30pm, a group of Dhaka University students gathered at the central library.

An agitating Dhaka College student named Sayem Shamim said the demand of the country’s general students should be accepted. The movement will be continued until their demands are met.

“We will not compromise with discrimination,” he added.

Notably, the students under the banner of ‘anti-discrimination student movement’ blocked Shahbagh intersection in the capital for four hours and announced new programme to observe their ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme from today.
