Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said he is closely monitoring the pension scheme and anti-quota movements.

He said this as a chief guest at an award giving ceremony of officials and employees of Road Transport and Highways Division at Secretariat on Sunday.

Asked about the movements against pension scheme and quota system, the minister said we are closely observing the matter. I believe it will be solved on time.

In response to the question whether he will sit with the agitators soon, the minister said, we are in touch with them.

However, the indefinite strike of teachers and employees of public universities is underway across the country, demanding their exclusion from the universal pension scheme ‘Prottoy’.

On the other hand, the students from different colleges and universities are staging demonstration across the country including Dhaka demanding cancellation of the quota system, and reinstatement of the 2018 circular.
