38 gold bars worth Tk 4.5cr seized at Shahjalal Airport
The estimated market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 4.5crore.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized 38 gold bars weighing 4.420 kg at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka early Wednesday.

The estimated market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 4.5crore.

The gold bars were seized from a flight of As Salam Airlines coming from Muscat in Oman at 5:30am.  

No one was arrested in the incident.

HSIA’s CIID Circle Assistant Director Pradeep Kumar Sarker said during the raid, two heavy objects wrapped in black scotch tape were found abandoned in the luggage cabin above seats no. 2 (D-E-F). The two heavy objects were taken to the inventory of the two customs halls. Later, 38 gold bars were found after unwrapping the black scotch tape.

The seized gold bars were sent to the customs warehouse of Dhaka Customs House.
