One killed in Narayanganj trawler fire

A person was killed and another injured after a fire broke out in a trawler carrying fuel oil in the Buriganga River in Narayanganj on Wednesday afternoon.

The identities of the deceased and injured could not be known yet.

The trawler carrying around 86 drums of petrol and 70 drums of diesel caught fire behind Meghna Depot in Fatulla. All the drums exploded in the fire.

Fakhar Ahmed, deputy assistant secretary at Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, said 10 units of firefighters brought the fire under control after around one and a half hours and recovered the body of a person.

Another person who suffered burn injuries in the incident is receiving treatment in a hospital, he said.

Meghna Depot in-charge Ziaur Rahman said the fire incident happened when four workers were going to Monpura in Bhola with fuel oil on a trawler.
