Bangladeshi killed by BSF on Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi national was shot to death by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Lohakuchi border at Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 55, son of late Moinuddin, of Dulali village in the upazila. 

BGB and local sources said a patrolling team of 78 BSF Battalion of West Champta camp under Sitai Police Station in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal opened fire when 4-5 Bangladeshis, including Nurul, entered India to fetch Indian cattle. At that time, Nurul was shot and died on the spot. Later, his companions managed to recover his body and bring it to Bangladesh.

On information, Kaliganj’s upazila Gorol investigation police outpost in a drive recovered his body from them and took it to the police station.

Lieutenant Colonel Mofazzal Hossain Akand, Lalmonirhat-15 BGB said he was on the on the spot. A protest will be expressed in this connection.
