Travel ban on Matiur, wife and son
A court in Dhaka has imposed a foreign travel ban on the National Board of Revenue (NBR) official Md Matiur Rahman, his wife Laila Kaniz, and their son Ahmed Toufiqur Rahman Arnab.
Dhaka Metropolitan Court's Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order on Monday after an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking the ban.
On Sunday, the ACC said it on June 4 decided to launch a probe into the allegations of illegally amassing wealth.
Earlier, the anti-graft body conducted inquiries four times in the same allegations against him.

Matiur Rahman, president of the NBR's Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal, was removed from his post and attached to the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Finance Ministry.
The allegations came to light after a video of Matiur’s son, Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, who bought a goat at a price of Tk 15 lakh, went viral before Eid-ul-Azha.
In this connection, Matiur Rahman told the media that Ifat is not his son.
Nizam Uddin Hazari, the lawmaker for the Feni-2 constituency, however, confirmed to the media that his cousin Shammi Akhtar is the second wife of Matiur and Ifat is his son.
