Three killed as truck, auto-rickshaw collide in Chandpur

Three people were killed as a sand-laden truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur on Tuesday afternoon.

Among them, one was identified as Sabuj, 25, but his detailed identity could not be known yet.

The incident occurred in Gogra area on the Chandpur-Cumilla road.

Hajiganj Police Station officer in-charge Mohammadpur Abdur Rashid said they primarily assumed that the speeding auto-rickshaw collided head-on with the sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction when it tried to overtake the latter vehicle, leaving three dead.

However, the auto-rickshaw and the truck were seized, he said.
