Mild heat wave likely to continue in 5 places
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday predicted that the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue in five places of the country in the next 24 hours from 9 am today.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna and Barisal divisions and the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna and Madaripur and it may continue. Due to excessive moisture content the discomfort may persist," said a BMD weather bulletin issued this morning.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin said.
"Light to moderate rain thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places of Rangpur Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places of Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," it added.
Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded 38.4 degrees Celsius at Jashore while today's minimum temperature was recorded 18.0 degrees Celsius at Chapainawabganj.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing at 6 am today was recorded 257mm at Sylhet.
The sun sets at 6:45 pm today and rises at 5:10am tomorrow in the capital.
