Voting in 9 municipalities gets underway

Voting in the election of nine municipalities of nine districts across the country begins on Sunday morning.

The balloting of Pirganj Municipality of Rangpur, Ghoraghat of Dinajpur, Domar of Nilphamari, Ghatail of Tangail, Lohagara of Narail, Golachipa of Potuakhali, Sonatola of Bogra, Bera of Pabna and Naria Municipality of Shariatpur district began at 8.ooam and will continue until 4.00pm without any break.

Total 39 candidates are contesting in the poll where nine from ruling party Awami League, seven from BNP, one from Sammobadi Party, one from Jatio Party and other 21 as independent.

There are some 1, 69, 342 voters will cast their votes in 91 poll centers.
