A Bangladeshi pilgrim who travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj has died in Makkah.

The information was provided in a bulletin released by Hajj Management Portal of the Ministry of Religious Affairs at 2:30am on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Md Nurul Alam, 61. He died on May 31.  His passport number is ‘A08377697’.

With this, nine Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far died this year during hajj.

So far, 55,116 pilgrims have travelled to Saudi Arabia to conduct the Hajj. Of them, 3,747 went under a government travel package while the remaining 51,369 bought a private Hajj package.

The Hajj may begin on Jun 16, subject to the sighting of the moon. A total of 86,257 pilgrims will perform hajj from Bangladesh this year.
