Advance railway ticket for Eid from Tuesday
Bangladesh Railway (BR) will begin selling of tickets in advance from Tuesday to ease the travelling of homebound passengers ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha.
Railway sources said the tickets for September 20 would be sold on September 15 at Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka and Chittagong railway stations and it would be continued till September 19.
"Keeping their (homebound passengers) safe journey in mind, the railways authority has taken necessary steps for selling advance tickets and Kamalapur and Chittagong railway officials will monitor the selling process," said Additional Director General of BR M Habibur Rahman.
He also said "Railway authority will strictly protect black marketing of tickets and increase guards of Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapotta Bahini (RNB), Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and different detective branches."
"A passenger will be able to buy maximum four tickets and tickets once sold will not be refundable" the additional director general added.
"Advance tickets will be sold every day from 9am" he also added. BR will operate special train services before Eid from September 22 to September 24 and for seven days after Eid from September 27 to October 3.
The special train services will be operated on Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route as Dewanganj special, Chittagong-Chandpur-Chittagong route as Chandpur special, Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur route as Parbatipur special and Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna route as Khulna special.
Special train services like Solakia Express also will be operated on Bhairab-Kishorganj-Bhairab route and Mymensingh-Kishorganj-Mymensingh route on Eid day.
There will be no day-off for the inter-city train services from September 20 to the day before Eid.
Bangladesh Railway will connect 138 additional passenger coaches with the existing number of coaches running for facilitating the homebound passengers.
BR will also connect 25 additional engines during the time for facilitating the homebound passengers.
