Youth killed in gas leakage blast in Badda
A youth was killed and a woman injured in a gas leakage blast on the ground floor of a building at Badda in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Solaiman, 35, a hotel worker.
Solaiman was in front of the building when the blast occurred.
The injured Shanta was admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).
Abu Jafar Hawladar, Sub Inspector of Badda Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
He said the incident took place on road no. 4 at DIT area in Badda at 6:43am. The road digging work was going on in the area at that time.
Legal action will be taken after investigation, said the police official.
Shanta’s husband Nasir Hawladar said he is a fish trader and went out of the house early in the morning. Being informed, he returned to the house and recovered his wife and rushed her to the SHNIBPS with the help of the fire service members.
He said the digging work was going on the road next to his house for some days. We often smelled gas. The gas was accumulated in the house due to a leak in the gas line. The explosion occurred when my wife went to cook this morning.
Dr Tariqul Islam, Resident Physician of the SHNIBPS, said Shanta suffered 35 percent of burn injuries. He has been kept at Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Her condition is critical.
