Saudi Airlines cabin crew arrested with around 2kg gold at HSIA

A female cabin crew was arrested with around 2 kilograms of gold at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka.

The arrestee was identified as Rokeya Khatun, a cabin crew of Saudi Airlines and a native of Sirajganj.

The members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn), National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs on Tuesday night conducted a joint operation at the airport and arrested the cabin crew.

Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Additional Police Superintendent of the Airport APBn, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Wednesday morning.

He said the SV-804 flight of Saudi Airlines was scheduled to land in Dhaka around 1:45pm on Tuesday. The flight landed in India’s Hyderabad due to bad weather in Dhaka. Later, when the weather in Dhaka became normal, it landed at the HSIA at 10:05 PM on Tuesday.

“Acting on a tip-off, the members of APBn, NSI and Customs searched her at the green channel and recovered 11 gold bars, eight gold bangles and one chain weighing 1.979 kilograms,” he said.

A case filed against her with Airport Police Station under the Special Power Act, he added.
