Body parts have been recovered from the septic tank of Sanjeeva Gardens in Kolkata, West Bengal, India where Bangladeshi lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar was killed.

Kolkata Police searched the pipe of the sewerage line and septic tank of the building on Tuesday afternoon and found the body parts.

Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) who is now in India, told Jago News the septic tank was broken based on information provided by DB.

Without a forensic test, it cannot be said the body parts are of MP Anar, he said.

Md Ahad, a member of the Bangladesh detective team in India, told Jago News, "Amanullah Aman alias Shimul Bhuiyan (an accused in MP Anar murder case) in interrogation said the body of (Anar) was cut into pieces and flushed in the bathroom of the flat."

"Then, we came to India and suggested Indian police search the septic tank of the bathroom, and a while ago, we heard some body parts were recovered from the pipe," he said.

On May 22, West Bengal police said Anwarul Azim Anar, a lawmaker from the Jhenaidah-4 constituency, was killed in the state.

It is, however, noted that MP Anar went to Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment and went missing a day after arrival.
