PM mourns death of lawmaker Anar
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Member of Parliament and Jhenidah district’s Kaliganj Upazila Awami League (AL) President Anwarul Azim Anar.
In a condolence message, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
However, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Anar, who went missing in India, has been murdered in a planned way. Three Bangladeshi people have been detained in this connection.
“We will soon inform you about the motive,” the minister said, adding that Indian police are cooperating with the case.
Earlier in the morning, Indian police recovered the body of Anar from Sanjiba Garden at New Town in Kolkata.
He went missing a day after going to India for medical treatment on 12 May, according to his family members.
