First Hajj flight leaves for Saudi Arabia with 413 pilgrims
The first hajj flight, carrying 413 pilgrims, left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia early Thursday.
The flight of Saudia Airlines left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:05am.
Later, the second flight of Bangladesh Biman Airlines left the airport with 417 pilgrims at 7:20 after Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan inaugurated the flight at 5:30am.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, a total of seven flights will leave Dhaka for Jeddah with 2,785 pilgrims today.
Bosra Islam, Geenral Manager (Public Relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said a total of 86,527 pilgrims will perform hajj from Bangladesh this year. Biman will carry 50% of the pilgrims.
Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Hajj programme-2024 (Hijri 1445) at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the capital.
