Members of Bangladesh Navy have joined the firefighting efforts to bring the fire under control that broke out in the Amurbunia area of Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Zone on Saturday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the matter in a press release on Sunday.

However, Mamum Mahmud, Deputy Director of Khulna Fire Service and Civil Defence, said three firefighting units started working to douse the fire at 8am on Sunday. Police, upazila administration, forest guards and local people also joined them.

Earlier, the fire broke out in the Amurbunia area of Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Zone at 2:45pm on Saturday.

On information, the members of forest department, fire service and police rushed to the spot but they could not start working to douse the fire as there is no water source nearby.
