Bangladeshi killed by BSF along Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Patgram border in Lalmonirhat early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 24, a resident of Jhalangi Pocket Para under Srirampur union in Patgram upazila.

It was learned that a group of Bangladeshi people went to Jhalangi Pocket Para through 9 no. sub-pillar area of 848 no. pillar of Patgram border for smuggling.

Sensing their presence, members of 169 Duradabri BSF Camp opened fire on them, leaving one seriously injured. Later, he died on the way to Patgram Upazila Health Complex.

Patgram Police Station officer in-cgarge Abu Sayeed Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
