Jhalakathi road crash death toll rises to 14

Another victim of the deadly road accident in Jhalakathi has died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal.

With this, the death toll from the incident increased to 14.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, a truck hit a microbus and an auto-rickshaw at Gabkhan Bridge Toll Plaza around 2 pm after its driver lost control over steering and later, it and the two vehicles plunged into a ditch, leaving many injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared 11 dead.

Of the wounded, several were referred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal where three more died.

Afruzul Haque Tutul, superintendent of the district police, confirmed the matter of 14 people's death in the accident.

However, police detained the truck driver and his assistant and seized the vehicles.
