11 killed in Jhalakathi road accident

Eleven people, including women and children, were killed and several others injured in a road accident in Sadar upazila of Jhalakathi on Wednesday afternoon. 

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The incident occurred at Gabkhan Bridge Toll Plaza around 2 pm.

Afruzul Haque Tutul, superintendent of the district police, said a truck hit a microbus and an auto-rickshaw around 2 pm after its driver lost control over steering and later, it and the two vehicles plunged into a ditch, leaving 11 dead and several others injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared one dead.

However, some of the injured were sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal for better treatment.
