Indian ruling party, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), chief Amit Shah on Saturday rejected the claim of calling BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia. He told Bangladeshi media on Saturday afternoon he never called BNP chairperson. He also rebuked the claim as baseless.

“Why would I deny if I made the call? There should not be baseless stories like this, since I’ve never made a call to her”, said Amit Shah to the media. Amit Shah clarified the issue amid confusion prevailing from Friday over making a telephone call to Khaleda Zia.

Press Secretary of BNP chairperson Maruf Kamal Khan, on Thursday night, told the media Amit Shah called Khaleda Zia on Wednesday night to enquire about her health. BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also claimed Amit Shah even condemned the confinement of Khaleda Zia over phone.
