5 killed as bus, microbus collide in Gopalganj

Five people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in Gopalganj on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred on Dhaka-Barishal highway at Domrakandi area under Raghdi union in Muksudpur upazila around 10:30am. 

One of the injured was identified as Salma Jahan, 35, of Dhaka’s Pallabi and the identity of the other people could not be known.

Ashraful Alam, Officer-in-charge of Muksudpur Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Police and locals said a Dhaka-bound bus of Global Paribahan collided head-on with a Tekerhat-bound microbus, leaving five people dead on the spot and three others injured. 

On information, the members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the dead bodies. 

Bhanga Highway Police Station’s Sub Inspector Noman and Madaripur fire service’s Deputy Director Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to Jago News.
