JnU student's death: Allegations against accused found to be primarily true
Allegations of involvement of Jagannath University (JnU) Assistant Proctor Din Islam and student Raihan Siddique Amman in instigating the university student Fairuz Abontika's death by suicide were found to be primarily true, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Revealing the information at a press conference on Sunday, DMP additional commissioner (crime) Kh Mahid Uddin said, "After initial interrogation of the two accused, the allegations are found to be true."
However, it cannot be conclusively said that all allegations as per the existing evidence, he said, adding that the allegations are found to be primarily true.
Further investigation will unveil the details of their involvement, he added.
Abontika's mother Taslima Begum filed a case with Kotwali Police Station in Cumilla against JnU student Raihan Siddique Amman and Assistant Proctor Din Islam.
Kh Mahid Uddin said Raihan Siddique Amman and Din Islam, who were arrested last night in Dhaka, were handed over to Kotwali Police Station today.
On March 16, Jagannath University (JnU) authorities suspended Management Studies Department Assistant Professor Din Islam and Law Department student Raihan Siddique Amman following the death of Law Department student Fairuz Abontika by suicide.
Din Islam was also removed from the post of assistant proctor.
