10 personalities to get Independence Award 2024

The government has nominated 10 distinguished personalities for "Swadhinata Padak 2024" (Independence Award), the highest civilian award, for their outstanding contribution to the country.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this connection on Friday.

According to the notification, Kazi Abdus Satter, Freedom Fighter Flight Sergeant Md Fazlul Haque (posthumous), and Freedom Fighter Shahid Abu Naim Md Najib Uddin Khan (Khurram) (posthumous) were selected for the award for their contributions to the Independence and Liberation War.

Mohammad Rafiquzzaman will receive the award for culture, and Firoza Khatun for sports.

Dr Mobarak Ahmed Khan will get it in science and technology category, and Dr Harishanker Das in medical category.

Besides, Aranya Chiran, Freedom Fighter Professor Dr Molla Obayedullah Baki, and SM Abraham Linkan were named for the award in social work/service category.
