4 killed as truck overturns on Dhaka-Chattogram highway

Four people were killed and three others injured when a truck overturned in Cumilla early Tuesday.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in front of RNR pump at Belasor area in Chandina upazila. 

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 23, of Satkhira sadar upazila, Monir Hossain, 28, of Bhola’s Monpura and Habibur Rahman, 32 and Akter Hossain, 35. 

Monjurul Alam Munna, Officer-in-charge of Eliotganj Highway Police Station, said a Dhaka-bound truck carrying fish from Noakhali overturned after hitting another truck. At that time, four people died on the spot and three others were injured.   

On information, the members of Chandina Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and rushed the injured people to Upazila Health Complex. Later, the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
