Khokon, Hoque elected SC Bar Association president, secretary
Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque have been elected as the president and the general secretary respectively of the Supreme Court Bar Association for 2024-2025 session.
Convener of the election sub-committee senior lawyer Abul Khayer declared the election results at 9pm on Saturday while the poll was held on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the president post, BNP-Jamaat backed blue panel candidate AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon bagged 2,622 votes while his rival Awami League backed white panel candidate Abu Sayeed Sagor got 2,539 votes.
Besides, in the secretary post, white panel candidate Shah Monjurul Hoque got 2,891 votes while his nearest rival blue panel candidate Md Ruhul Quddus (Kajal) bagged 1,702 votes.
Along with general secretary, the Awami League backed white panel secured ten posts, including two vice-presidents, two assistant general secretaries, treasurer and four executive members, out of 14 while BNP backed panel got remaining four posts, including president and three executive members.
