Titu elected Mymensingh city mayor for second time

Awami League leader Ekramul Haque Titu has been elected mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) for the second time.

Returning Officer Belayet Hossain Choudhury announced the unofficial results of the election at Tarek Smriti Auditorium in the city at 10:30 pm on Saturday. 

Titu, President of city Awami League, bagged 1,39,604 votes while his nearest rival Advocate Sadequl Haque Khan Milky got 35,763 votes.

Three other candidates - district Awami League President Ehtesamul Alam bagged 10,733 votes, Krishak League leader Dr Rezaul Haque got 1,487 votes and Jatiya Party candidate Shahidul Islam Mondol got 1,321 votes.

Besides, 149 councillors and 69 women councilors contested the polls for 33 ward councillors and 11 women reserved seats.

The voting began at 8am using Electronic voting Machines and continued till 4pm without any break.
