46 killed in Bailey Road building fire

A total of 46 people, including women and children, were killed in a deadly fire in a building in the capital Dhaka's Bailey Road area on Thursday night, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen.

Thirty-eight bodies were handed over to the respective families after confirming their identities, the minister said to the journalists after visiting burnt patients on Friday morning.

He said 36 bodies were, so far, brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and 10 ones to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. 

Twelve people who suffered burn injuries in the fire were undergoing treatment at both facilities and none of them are out of danger, he added.

Earlier around 9:50 pm on Thursday, a deadly fire broke out in a restaurant named "Kacchi Bhai' at Green Cozy Cottage building in Bailey Road area of the capital, causing the casualties.
