HC for not disclosing sex of unborn babies

The High Court (HC) on Sunday pronounced a judgement, asking to follow a guideline set by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for not disclosing the sex of unborn babies.

A High Court division bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque came up with the judgment, asking all the hospitals and diagnostic centres to strictly follow the guideline.

Advocate Ishrat Hasan filed and moved a writ in this regard, while Advocate Tirtha Salil Roy argued for DGHS. Deputy Attorney General Amit Dasgupta stood for the state.

The DGHS on January 29 submitted a report at the High Court, saying the sex of unborn babies cannot be disclosed.
