Minor girl’s body found in city, 2 arrested

The police recovered the body of a 4-year-old girl from the room of her next-door apartment at Darus Salam in the city early Thursday, hours after the girl went missing.

The victim was identified as Khadija Jannat, daughter of Md Masud of village Rajapur at Rupsha in Khulna. They used to reside at a fourth floor flat in Chhoto Diyabari area.

Darus Salam police inspector (investigation) Md Faruqul Alam told New Age that Khadija remained missing since Wednesday afternoon and family members of the victim along with police began searching the baby.

Meanwhile, the movement of a boy and his mother of the adjacent flat of the same floor seemed to be suspicious.

Police raided the flat and found the body under the bed of the youth’s bedroom, he said.

They arrested the boy, Rakib Hossain, 14, and his mother Ranu Begum, 29, he added.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The victim’s father filed a case with the police station.
