3 killed as lorry hits auto-rickshaw in Rangamati

Three people were killed and two others injured as a lorry hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Rangamati on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred on Rangamati-Chattogram highway at Sapchari Kolabagan area in Kawkhali upazila. 

Of the deceased, two were identified as Md Hanif and Nobir Hossain. 

The injured are Saikot Chakma and auto-rickshaw driver Md Nurul Amin. 

The auto-rickshaw driver was sent to Chattogram for better treatment.

Witnesses said the lorry lost control and fell 40 feet down a ravine after hitting the auto-rickshaw. At that time, one person died on the spot and four others injured. Later, local people rushed the injured to Rangamati General Hospital where the doctors declared two of them dead.   

Md Shawkot Akbar, the resident physician of Rangamati General Hospital, confirmed the casualties.  

Rangamati Police Superintendent Meer Abu Touhid told Jago News that three people died after the lorry hit the auto-rickshaw. The culprits will be brought under law after investigation.
