3 killed as bus, covered van collide in Cox’s Bazar

Three people were killed and two others injured when a bus collided head-on with a covered van on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday morning. 

The accident took place at Lal bridge area under Harbang union in Chakaria upazila around 9am.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.  

Quoting witnesses, the highway police said the accident took place between a Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van of Square Company and a Dhaka-bound bus of Eagle Paribahan, leaving two people dead on the spot and three others injured. Local people rushed the injured to the hospital where the doctors declared one of them dead. 

Khokon Kanti Rudro, Sub Inspector of Chiringa Highway Police Station, said two people died on the spot and another died in the hospital. The ill-fated vehicles were seized and taken into custody.
