Bangladeshi injured in firing from Myanmar
A Bangladeshi man was killed by firing from Myanmar side of the border at Tombru area in Naikhongchhari of Bandarban on Sunday morning.
The injured are Prabir Dhar, 58, son of Judhistir Dhar of Tmobru camp area.
Locals said the fighting started between the insurgent group Arakan Army and the Border Guard Police (BGP) in Myanmar at 3:30am on Sunday which is still going on. During the fighting, a mortar shell fell on a house in Bangladesh’s Tumbru area. Prabir was injured when he was returning his home.
Anwar Hossain, a member of Ghumdum Union Parishad’s ward no 3, said one person was injured by firing from Myanmar. The firing is still going on.
He also said he heard that 14 members of Myanmar’s BGB entered through the Tambru border and sought shelter to the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB).
