2 killed as auto-rickshaw, pickup van collide in Mymensingh

Two female garment workers were killed and three others injured when an auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a pickup van in Mymensingh early Saturday.

The accident took place at Hatiber area under Uthura union in Bhaluka upazila around 5:45am. 

The deceased were identified as Asma Akter, 35, wife of Moijuddin of Hatiber village and her sister Shirina Akter, 26, wife of Mosharraf Hossain.

Police and local source said the auto-rickshaw was going to Bhoradoba bazar from Hatiber village. When the vehicle reached Uthura bazar, it collided head-on with the pickup van, leaving two people dead on the spot and three others injured. 

Nazrul Islam, Sub Inspector of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said the bodies of the deceased were recovered. Legal action is under process in this regard.
