The incident took place in Daroani Bandarbazar area.

Police assume that Ashiqul Molla attempted to kill himself by slitting his throat after strangulating his wife and two children to death.

"It is primarily assumed that he tried to kill himself by slitting his throat after strangulating family members to death. But the reasons behind the incident are not yet clear," the district Police's additional superintendent (crime and ops) Saiful Islam told Jago News.

His younger brother Zakir Hossain Molla told Jago News locals noticed him walking throat-slitted and took him to Nilphamari General Hospital. After primary treatment there, he was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

He suffered financial loss in business and was mentally broken and that is why, he might have committed the acts, Zakir added.

Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Tanvirul Islam said police were working on the spot and the man was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
