Woman, minor son found dead in Pabna

A woman and her minor son were found dead in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna on Friday morning.

The deceased were Laboni Khatun, 35, wife of Abdur Rashid, a resident of Dighulia village in the upazila who stays in Malaysia, and their son Riyad Hossain, 8.

Police recovered the body of Laboni from the kitchen of their house and the hanging body of Riyad from a tree beside their home in Dighulia village around 11:30 am, said Chatmohar Police Station officer in-charge Selim Reza.

Locals said several masked people stormed expatriate Rashid's house and carried out vandalism there early Friday. Later, they strangulated his wife and minor son to death as they cried out.

Failjana UP chairman Hafizur Rahman said he learned that the family had no enmity with anyone.

UP member Nannu Mia said it is assumed that someone might have committed the incident to steal money.
