JnU students stage demo for hall in Dhaka jail area

Students of Jagannath University (JnU) on Wednesday staged a demonstration demanding residential dormitories in the Dhaka jail area, now that the prison has been shifted to Keraniganj.

Alleging that the on-going militancy issue is making it difficult for bachelors to rent houses, they demanded that the government fix their housing problem.

Over a hundred students converged at Jagannath University campus and began demonstration from 9:00am. Last reported they were chanting slogans near their vice-chancellor’s office.

This month, Dhaka Central Jail has been shifted to Keraniganj – at the outskirts of the capital. Any concrete plan for the vacated Dhaja jail land is yet to be unveiled.
