4 BCL activists killed as private car falls into river

Four activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were killed when a private car lost control and fell into a river at Banglabazar area in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet around 11:45pm on Friday. 

The deceased were identified as Jubayer Ahsan, 26, son of Jahurul Miah of Nizpat Lamapara village, Nihal Paul, 25, son of Randip Paul of Nizpat Toasihati village, Mehedi Hossain Tomal, 24, son of Arzu Miah of Nizpat Paniharati village and Sumon Ahmed, 25, son of Harun Miah of Nizpat Jangalhati village in the upazila.  

Jaintiapur Upazila Chairman Kamal Ahmed said four BCL activists were going to Tamabil Land Port by a private car from Jaintiapur. When their car reached Banglabazar area, it lost control and fell into a river from a bridge. Later, local people rescued them and took them to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared two of them dead and transferred two others to Sylhet. The two others also died on the way to Sylhet.

Md Tajul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur Police Station, said the bodies of the deceased were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
