Man dies 4 hours after wife's death

A septuagenarian in Companiganj of Noakhali has died around four hours after his wife's death.

The deceased were Abu Sayed, 70, and Mohsena Khatun, 62, residents of Khalil Molla Bari under Charkakra union in the upazila.

Mohsena died around 6:40 pm on Thursday at Chattogram Medical College Hospital and after four hours of her death, Abu Sayed also passed away at home.

After their namaz-e-janaza, they were buried at the family graveyard at 10:30 am on Friday.

Family sources said Abu Sayed had long undergone treatment in Dhaka after suffering from lung cancer and at one stage, he was sent home.

Mohsena suffered a stroke and she was taken to CMCH where she expired on Thursday evening. Hearing her death news, Abu Sayed died at home.

The couple's elder son Md Shahjahan said his father had long suffered from lung cancer but his mother was fully well. Now they both died on the same day.

Confirming the matter, Charkakra union chairman Md Hanif Sabuj said the incident of husband and wife's deaths within a short period is pathetic and he sought pardon for their departed souls.
