Health Minister orders closure of unlicensed hospitals, clinics

Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen has ordered the closure of unlicensed private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres.

The minister said this while talking to the journalists at Secretariat on Tuesday.

He said the unlicensed hospitals, diagnostic centres and clinics will have to be closed by themselves. Otherwise, the ministry will take strict action.

The minister said the death of child Ayaan is a very unfortunate incident. Appropriate action will be taken in this regard. As far as I know, the inquiry committee will submit a report tomorrow. Nobody will be spared if there is negligence in treatment.

Earlier in the morning, Ayaan’s father Shamim Ahmed met the health minister with four-point demand.

Notably, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday instructed all departmental health directors and civil surgeons to provide information on all unlicensed private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres and blood banks in the country within seven days.
