Hasina takes oath as prime minister for 5th time

Sheikh Hasina has taken oath as the prime minister of the country for the fifth time after her party Awami League won the 12th parliamentary elections.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath-taking ceremony at Bangabhaban at about 7 pm on Thursday.

Cabinet Division Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain moderated the program.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan were, among others, present in the program.

Earlier, on Sunday (January 7), the 12th parliamentary election was held. In the polls, the ruling Awami League secured an absolute majority by winning in 222 constituencies.
