Couple gets life for murder in C'nawabganj

A court in Chapainawabganj on Thursday sentenced a couple to life-term imprisonment for beating a man to death.

The lifers are Khairul Islam, a resident of Palsha village under Baliadanga union in Sadar upazila and his wife Lalbanu (Laily).

Judge Md Rabiul Islam of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court handed down the verdict.

They were also fined Tk 10,000 and in failure to pay, they will have to serve another six months in prison.

The court public prosecutor (PP) Robiul Islam confirmed the matter.

The court sources said Khairul and Laily tied Md Jashim, a resident of Beldanga village in Nachol upazila, with a tree at Palsha Mision Bazar and mercilessly beat up him with rod and stick on March 20, 2014, leaving him dead.

Later, Jashim's father filed a case in this connection mentioning nine people.
