Newly-elected MPs to take oath on Wednesday
The newly-elected lawmakers to the parliament will be sworn in on Wednesday morning as the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Secretariat is now taking preparation to hold the oath taking ceremony.
The swearing in ceremony will take place at the oath-taking room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 10am.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury will administer the oath to the newly elected MPs.
Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury, the chief whip of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Earlier, the gazette notification of the 12th national parliamentary election will be published on Tuesday.
There is an obligation of taking oath within three days of the gazette notification.
The Election Commission on Monday announced the unofficial results of voting in 298 of the country’s 300 constituencies.
Awami League (AL)-backed candidates won 222 seats while independent candidates won 62 seats. Jatiya Party candidates were victorious in 11 seats and three single candidates each from three parties -- Bangladesh Workers’ Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Bangladesh Kalyan Party -- secured victory in their respective constituencies.
