Three killed as dump truck hits auto-rickshaw

Three people were killed and four others injured as a dump truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Manikganj on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Jashim Talukder, 42, his grandson Md Tasen, 5, and the auto-rickshaw driver Md Shahin, 52. Jashim hailed from Bikrampur of Dhaka and Shahin was a resident of Barundi village under Hatipara union in Sadar upazila of Manikganj.

Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Habil Hossain confirmed the matter.

Police and witnesses said a dump truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Autpara area on Manikganj-Singair-Hemayetpur road around 10 am, leaving the auto-rickshaw driver dead on the spot and several others injured.

Later, they were taken to hospital where they were declared dead.
